Returning to my fourth-generation farm has renewed my love of nature, quiet spaces, and the acceptance of ourselves we find by being alone. Winter weather often leaves me isolated, tree limbs cracking under the weight of the ice and snow the only sound breaking the silence. Trekking out across the farm and into the woods with the dogs and a camera during these times is one of my favorite winter activities.—Nancy McCrary
