— Women in 2021 —

“The world can only be grasped by action, not by contemplation. The hand is the cutting edge of the mind.” – Diane Arbus

What is important to you? What drives you to create? Is your art made to influence others? To make a difference?

To express frustration? Anger? Sadness, Fear?

Or, Hope? Love? Joy? Strength?

To be heard? And seen?

Or, is it to simply say ‘I have been here’. – Constance Rosenthal

This Call is …

Open to Women of All Ages, and all photographic processes.

Women today enter 2021 being needed more than ever. Healing, beauty, environment, politics; changes to family and community, how we send our children to school, how we carry on our businesses; how we keep ourselves and our families healthy; how we heal our planet, and how we heal our nation to bring us back together as a democracy … these are just a few of the many challenges we will face bravely.

Throughout history women have consistently inspired strength in ourselves and others through arts and culture. And we’ll do it again. We will end 2020 more attuned to ourselves, Mother Nature, our spirituality, our mental and physical health, and the needs of others. We will also end the year more grounded in reality than when we began.

For me this year, my farm has been my salvation. It has renewed my knowledge that my health and the health of the Earth is intertwined. My focus for 2021 will be the environment and what I can do to help heal and preserve this beautiful orb. Every little bit counts.

What, where, or who matters to you? And why? If you’d like, include a short essay on your image. We want to hear your thoughts, also. Thank you. — Nancy McCrary
